The Creative Play Lab is The LEGO Group’s innovation department, tasked with inventing the future of LEGO play! The Experimental Research Team are kids experts, pioneering new ways to understand kids andensuring our new play experiences satisfy and delight the builders of tomorrow!
Responsibilities
Rethink & rebuild the experimentation/research capability to underpin the learning needs of the Creative Play Lab, the LEGO innovation department
Set the vision, strategic priorities and OKRs for the Experimental Research Team, ensuring we are derisking the new propositions we bring to market, pioneering how we experiment, test and learn, and championing the child in our development process.
Identify key initiatives, tools, training, etc. required to deliver on the vision and work with ERT members and other Capability Leads to deliver them.
Manage and resource a team of 10-15 Innovation Researchers, based in London, Billund & Singapore, from diverse professional backgrounds including market research, design and academia. Conduct performance reviews and all other People Leader responsibilies. Hiring, on-boarding, coaching new team members.
Build and maintain an experimentation toolbox that supports agile and iterative testing and learning, and manage the budget, vendors, etc.
Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making across the organization, developing training and resources that enable everyone to test and learn.
Champion audience-first innovation and help the organization get close to kids, to ensure our new propositions satisfy their needs and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
Measure and communicate the impact of research and insights on innovation outcomes and business performance.
Qualifications
Significant experience working in experimentation, design research, insight, data, business intelligence, etc., ideally with experience from agency-side and brand-side, and with a diverse learning toolbox including agile testing & learning, as well as large scale studies (multi-method, multi-market).
Significant experience working in innovation and product development.
Experience building and scaling a new capability area and team in a large, complex business.
Experience leading a team of 10+ people, remote/hybrid.
Experience managing senior stakeholders from diverse areas of the business including Design, Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing
Experience managing a large budget and toolbox
Nice to have
Experience working in toys and games industry
Workshop design and facilitation skills
