Job summary

Zero Point Motion in the UK seeks an Experimental Physicist to design and build lab systems from scratch, run high-iteration experiments, and translate messy data into actionable physics. You’ll move quickly from bench to working rigs, with automation and safety built in, collaborating with photonics, MEMS, electronics, and packaging engineers.

You’ll own experimental setups, quantify noise and drift, write Python for control and data processing, and drive scalable, repeatable measurement

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with hands-on lab experience.
• Extensive laser use in research and safety discipline.
• Proven ability to design experiments and extract physical insight.

Responsibilities

• Design and build experimental setups where most of the rig does not exist yet.
• Integrate lasers, detectors, optics, and instrumentation into stable measurement systems.
• Move fast through build-test-debug cycles with practical judgment.
• Develop procedures for repeatability and automation.
• Work longer hours when required, then reduce through better design and handover.
