Job description

Experienced Support Worker

£12.21 per hour

19.5 hours contract available - Part time

Do you have a passion for making a difference?

We are looking for caring, trustworthy and dedicated individuals to join our team. Every day is different as we promote our service users to make their own choices, achieve their goals and live as independently as possible.

About the role:

You will be able to help people you support to live the life they want, ensuring they have choices and control over the planning and delivery of their support. You will enable them to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional support, along with encouraging them to develop positive relationships socially.

Our Leeds Strawberry Lane service supports 3 gentlemen in a supported living setting. This can be intense with two of the gentlemen who we support due to their different levels of autism needing focus and attention; therefore, this role would suit someone who has high levels of patience and understanding with the ability to risk assess any situation in the living environment.

Working with a variety of individuals in Leeds, you will provide support with:

  • Day to day tasks
  • Personal care
  • Medication administration
  • Social integration
  • Hobbies and interests
  • Organising fun days or themed activities
  • Appointments

You will help to organise and participate in activities and you’ll support a range of life skills. You will be comfortable with lone working during a typical shift. An understanding and/or experience of autism and recognised qualifications such as NVQ are preferred for this role, although not essential as Real Life Options will put you through the NVQ and any necessary training.

Shift pattern and working hours:

Successful applicants will cover a variety of shifts; examples of shift patterns are as follows:

  • 8am to 3pm
  • 3pm to 10pm
  • 11:30am to 6:30pm
  • 9:30am to 3:30pm
  • 12pm to 7pm

Part of your shift could be supporting one service user then the second half of the shift could be with another person; this service is a 24-hour support service. You may be required to cover waking nights on the odd occasion.

A full clean UK driving license will be required for this role to enable you to drive the Motability vehicles.

An enhanced DBS will be required for this role.

Benefits and Rewards

  • A minimum of 28-days paid holiday a year, including bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time staff)
  • Accredited training giving you the knowledge and skills to deliver a first-rate job
  • An employer contributory pension scheme
  • Mileage paid at 35p per mile flat rate up to 10,000 miles per year

In addition to the above, you also have access to the following great benefits:

  • Health Cash Plan (for full/part-time contracted hours)
  • £10,000 Life cover
  • A free Employee Assistance Programme (including a medical helpline, telephone and face-to-face counselling, debt, financial and legal information)
  • A reward gateway with access to discounted goods and services
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • A financial wellbeing scheme
  • Refer a Friend Incentive Bonus (terms and conditions apply)
  • Recognition Initiatives

We are keen to recruit someone with the right values and behaviours who can help us to ensure our workplace values are at the heart of everything we do; these are:
