Job description

Experienced Software Engineer

We are looking for an Experienced Software Engineer who will be a key member of our game development team here at SEGA HARDlight, working across our live free-to-play mobile games. With our live titles, no two days are the same, presenting a variety of challenges to keep you engaged. We release regular updates to keep our games fresh and relevant for our highly engaged player base, with tie-ins across the SEGA world like the Sonic Movies. You will work collaboratively with the teams here at HARDlight to push the boundaries of what's possible across various formats.

With a small and dynamic team, you will have a wide variety of work and the freedom to develop creative solutions to the problems you encounter.

Responsibilities
  • Work as a key member of the software engineering team to design and implement game systems and project features.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Software Engineer to maintain high standards of technical architecture.
  • Assist with planning, work estimation, and task scheduling.
  • Coordinate with other departments to complete work on time and to a high standard.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Adhere to and promote good software engineering practices and company standards.
  • Show passion for the games we develop and seek ways to improve them.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong software engineering skills, with high proficiency in C# or C++, and a passion for problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to the development process and continuous improvement.
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented programming techniques.
  • Experience with continuous integration, source control, and code review tools.
Desirable
  • Interest in free-to-play titles and understanding of the technology behind their success.
  • Experience in multiple areas of game development technology.
  • Unity and Node.js experience.
  • Knowledge of client/server technologies, networking, databases, and server infrastructure.
  • Experience managing live products, regular updates, and live-ops tools development.
