Job Role: Social Worker
The social worker will work in partnership with children, young people, young adults, and their families to address their social, emotional, and environmental needs. The role involves safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable individuals in Worcestershire through high-quality services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing risks and needs of vulnerable children, young people, and young adults to improve their quality of life.
- Coordinating services to achieve the best outcomes for clients and ensuring resource efficiency.
- Working towards operational independence in applying relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and social work theories.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of clients by gathering and analyzing information for assessments in compliance with statutory requirements.
- Considering alternative placements when necessary.
- Carrying out statutory tasks related to the provision of services to children, young people, and young adults.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential records in line with legislation such as data protection laws.
- Participating in supervision and staff development activities.
- Attending relevant training courses for professional development.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
Essential:
- Professional qualification in social work.
- Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Desirable:
- Level 1 qualification in Essential Digital Skills or proven IT proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience working with children/young people in statutory social care or similar adult settings, including safeguarding.
- Experience in safeguarding decision-making within children’s or adults’ social care.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.
Desirable:
- Experience working with abused or vulnerable children or young adults and their families.
- Experience conducting safeguarding investigations and assessments.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.

- Knowledge of social work theories and practices for successful outcomes.
- Understanding of current legislation affecting children and young adults.
