Cyril Orchard Group in Shropshire seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor to deliver cost consultancy across a varied portfolio. You will work hands-on within a small, experienced team and maintain direct client contact throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires independence, strong commercial sense and the ability to manage procurement, valuations and final accounts, with support from senior colleagues as needed. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Competenze

• Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor in consultancy or contractor environments.
• Proven ability to manage projects and deliver pre- and post-contract QS services.
• Sound knowledge of contracts, procurement, and cost management.
• Strong written and numerical skills with client-facing communication.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
• Relevant QS qualification; chartered status or progression is advantageous.

The Role

We are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor based in our Shropshire office to take responsibility for the delivery of cost consultancy services across a varied portfolio of projects.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can manage projects with a good level of independence, provide confident commercial advice and build strong client relationships. You will work as part of a small, experienced team, with access to senior support where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing cost plans, estimates, reports and tender documentation
• Managing procurement and tender processes from initial enquiry through to recommendation
• Providing contract administration and post-contract cost management services
• Preparing valuations, cost reports, variation assessments and final accounts
• Acting as the day-to-day client contact and coordinating with project teams
• Identifying and managing commercial risks, scope changes and emerging cost issues

What We Are Looking For

• Demonstrable experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy or contractor environment
• Proven ability to manage projects and deliver core pre-contract and post-contract Quantity Surveying services
• Sound working knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and cost management
• Strong written, numerical, organisational and client-facing communication skills
• Ability to prioritise workload, use professional judgement and work independently
• A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification; chartered status or progress towards chartership would be advantageous
