Job Description:

Torftech is a design engineering and intellectual property business specializing in licensing and selling its proprietary TORBED and TORWAVE processors (www.torftech.com). These devices are used in industries such as food, mineral, and waste management for processes like gas scrubbing and calcination, designed to improve efficiency and facilitate environmental sustainability.

We are seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to succeed our retiring senior mechanical engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience with high-temperature industrial process plant and materials handling, including refractory design and installation.

Reporting to the managing director, you will work independently after familiarization with our technologies and will eventually oversee the mechanical engineering department. Your responsibilities will include conceptual process design, detailed drawing and manufacturing plans, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of plant equipment.

Key duties involve:

1. CAD drawing using Inventor at design and pre-manufacture stages
2. Reviewing manufacturing drawings for quality and accuracy
3. Fault diagnosis and rectification
4. Implementing maintenance schedules and spare parts management
5. Testing pilot plants
6. Managing the mechanical engineering team
7. Collaborating with suppliers to ensure component quality
8. Supporting procurement processes

Required qualifications and skills include:

• A good degree in Engineering or related field
• Practical experience in mechanical or process engineering, especially thermal processes and materials handling
• Interest in gas/solid processing technologies
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work remotely
• Legal UK residence and work permits
