Anchusa Care Limited in Hitchin is seeking an Experienced Community Care Assistant for flexible bank shifts. You will provide personal care, medication support, meals, continence care, and companionship to clients in their own homes across mornings, evenings and weekends.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of domiciliary care experience, hold the right to work in the UK with no sponsorship, and have a full UK driving licence and car with business insurance.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year’s experience in domiciliary care.

• Live within 10 miles of Stevenage, Hitchin or Letchworth.
• Commit to at least 2 shifts per week, including evenings and weekends.

The Team – We are a family-run home care company, run from our office in Hitchin by Kelly-Jo, with her brother Bruce and sister Cher on the team. You won’t be just a name on a rota here. We know our carers, our door is always open, and if something matters to you, it matters to us. Around a third of our carers have been with us for five years or more, and every member of our operations team started out as a carer.

The Job – Bank work is flexible, across mornings, evenings and weekends, with at least 2 shifts a week. You’ll cover sickness, holidays and extra care needs, often for people you’ll get to know over time. Calls include morning, lunch, tea and bed calls: personal care, medication, meals, continence care, household tasks and companionship.

What your working day looks like:

• Regular areas and familiar faces: you’ll cover familiar areas and get to know the people we care for over time
• 4–5 people per round, all in one town, so you’re caring, not sitting in traffic
• Almost all visits are 30 minutes or longer, so there’s time to do things properly
• Support whenever you’re working: our on‑call team is available 7am–10pm, seven days a week

How we look after you:

• £14.00 per hour for your call time, which with rolled-up holiday pay is worth £15.78 per hour, plus 40p per mile
• Time and a third on bank holidays
• All training paid, including your induction, in our training room set up like a real home
• Support from our office mentor for your first three months, and whenever you need them after that
• A fully funded Level 3 qualification, and a real route into senior and office roles
• An open‑door office: pop in for a chat and a hot or cold drink any time

You’ll need:

• At least 1 year’s experience in domiciliary care
• The right to work in the UK (we’re unable to offer sponsorship)
• A full UK driving licence and your own car with business insurance
• To live within 10 miles of Stevenage, Hitchin or Letchworth
• To be able to commit to at least 2 shifts a week, including evenings and weekends
