Job summary

Unimaq, a precision engineering company in Wales, is seeking a time-served CNC Machinist who can independently program, set, and operate both CNC milling and turning machines. You will produce complex, high-precision components from engineering drawings with tight tolerances.

You will read drawings, select tooling, set feeds and speeds, and use precision measuring equipment to verify part quality. The role emphasizes first-time-right precision and safe, efficient on-site production.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist with strong capabilities in both milling and turning.
• Confidence with CNC control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazak, or Siemens).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and take pride in first-time-right precision.
• Strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Program, set, and operate CNC milling and turning machines.
• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select appropriate tooling, calculate feeds and speeds, and apply offsets.
• Inspect finished parts using micrometres, vernier calipers, and gauges to ensure tolerances.
• Troubleshoot live production, tooling, or programming issues on the shop floor.

The Role

We are looking for a time-served or similarly experienced CNC Machinist who can independently program, set, and operate both CNC Milling and CNC Turning equipment. You will be responsible for producing complex, high-precision components to tight tolerances from engineering drawings.

• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment (micrometres, vernier callipers, gauges) to ensure strict adherence to tolerances.
• Troubleshoot live production, tooling, or programming issues on the shop floor.
• Maintain high standards of workplace safety, cleanliness, and quality control.

What We Are Looking For
