UK Atomic Energy Authority, Culham, Oxfordshire, is seeking an Exhaust Code Developer to advance edge modelling codes and interface with integrated modelling tools such as JINTRAC. You will perform core-edge simulations and contribute to tokamak studies across current and future machines.
The role requires a PhD in plasma physics and strong software engineering and parallel programming skills. Onsite work is three days/week with BPSS/DBS checks; the position involves international collaboration
Exhaust Code Developer Overview of Responsibilities The salary for this role is £48,290 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 3 days a week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working. This role can be based at any of the following sites: Culham, Oxfordshire. This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.

As Exhaust Code Developer, you will play a pivotal role in developing edge modelling code(s) which interface with integrated modelling tools, such as JINTRAC integrated transport modelling framework. Through integrated modelling, the post holder may study plasma exhaust in existing and future tokamaks, such as JET, MAST-U, ITER, JT-60SA, and STEP. You will also propose, and/or integrate improved models through internal and international collaborations and execute, and analyse tokamak experiments in these areas.
