Job summary

Military Medical Personnel seeks a Locum Rehabilitation Instructor for a MoD unit at HMS Seahawk Medical Centre, Helston, Cornwall. The role covers 37.5 hours weekly as a locum, with a pay rate of £25.92 per hour.

You will assess and treat MoD personnel with MSK injuries and deliver progressive exercise therapy in a multidisciplinary setting. Essential qualifications include BSc(Hons) in Sports Rehab, Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy with HCPC, plus ERI training.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant science or health qualification and professional registration.
• Experience delivering MSK group/class-based rehab.
• Completed military ERI training or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Manage MoD patients (Navy, Army, RAF) with MSK injuries and deliver exercise rehabilitation.
• Design safe, progressive treatment programs as per ERI Standards of Proficiency.
• Record treatments and programme exercises for individuals and groups.
• Deliver group-based rehab sessions (up to 15 patients) targeting function and mobility.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive rehab.
• Maintain clinical governance, communicate treatment plans clearly to patients and MDT.

Job description

We are looking for a Locum Rehabilitation Instructor to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at HMS Seahawk (Culdrose) Medical Centre, in Helston, Cornwall.

This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Pay rate:

£25.92 per hour

Job Description:

• Manage patients from the Navy, Army and RAF that present with musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and deliver appropriate exercise rehabilitation to return serving personnel to full fitness and maximise operational effectiveness.
• Perform appropriate clinical assessments and design and implement safe and progressive exercise treatment programmes for patients in accordance with the ERI Standards of Proficiency to Practice.
• Keep a record of all specific treatments given including individual patient programme exercises and group therapy sessions.
• Delivering group-based exercise therapy sessions (up to a max of 15 patients) to restore normal function in co-ordination, balance, posture, walking/running re-education, lifting and carrying, mobilisation and strengthening, recreational therapy and pool-based rehab/fitness sessions.
• Work as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team provide a comprehensive and professional rehab service.
• Develop good working relationships and work collaboratively with managers and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Adhere and contribute to all aspects of clinical governance and assurance.
• Communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for treatment, good understanding of their condition and treatment plan.
• To communicate complex information clearly through presentations and in writing to patients and other members of the MDT.

Essential requirements/ Qualifications/ Experience:

• Hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Rehabilitation and maintain a Full Graduate Membership with the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BaSRaT)
• Hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy and maintain Full Graduate Membership of the Society of Sports Therapy (SST).
• Be a qualified military ERI having successfully completed the Joint Services School of Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors (JSSERI) course.
• Hold a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HSPC).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience managing group/class-based exercise therapy for musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries, including evidence of treating MSK injuries gained within the last 2 years.
• Where an ex-military ERI are employed and the completion of the RCP cannot be met, the individual must show evidence of clinical currency when being employed within their respective agency. Completion of the RCP must happen on employment.
• Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
