Job summary

The National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty is seeking a Head of Executive Office in Swindon for an 18-month fixed term. The role leads an executive office that supports the Director General, coordinating priorities and enabling informed decision-making at the highest level.

You will manage external engagement and ensure the team provides high-quality briefings and planning while developing capability.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a Chief Executive’s Office or equivalent within a large complex organisation.
• Strong judgement and decision-making to prioritise competing demands for senior leaders.
• Collaborative relationship-building with Executive Directors and external stakeholders.
• Ability to develop diverse teams and foster an inclusive culture.
• Experience allocating senior executive time and maintaining discretion with high-profile information.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Executive Office to provide proactive, professional support to the Director General.
• Oversee planning and coordination enabling focus on strategic priorities.
• Balance external engagement with organisational priorities and prepare high-quality briefings.
• Identify dependencies and support collaboration across the Strategy & Governance senior leadership team.
