Job summary

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) and Network Rail Sussex are seeking an exceptional Integrated Health, Safety & Security Director to lead across both organisations. You will develop and deliver a whole-system safety, security and occupational health strategy for a large, highly regulated railway.

Reporting at executive level, you will strengthen safety culture, oversee risk management and assurance, and be a senior ambassador externally.

Qualifications

• Executive leadership with a track record of delivering safety excellence.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance.
• Experience managing occupational health, wellbeing and workforce risk.
• Proven ability to lead cross-organisational partnerships and stakeholders.
• Professionally qualified in Health & Safety (e.g., IOSH) and membership of a professional body.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of integrated H&S strategy for GTR and Network Rail Sussex.
• Act as executive lead for health, safety, security and wellbeing.
• Strengthen safety culture and risk management across the organisation.
• Oversee regulatory interactions with ORR, HSE, RAIB, and Network Rail.
• Represent the integrated railway externally and lead on-call rota.
• Inspire and manage a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
