About Abound
We’re on a mission to make affordable loans available to more people. Using the power of Open Banking, we have built state-of-the-art technology that allows us to look beyond traditional credit scores and offer fairer credit to people ignored by traditional lenders.
We have two parts of our business. On the consumer side, we have Abound. Abound has proven that our approach works at scale, with over £800 million lent to-date. While other lenders only look at your credit score, we use Open Banking to look at the full picture – what you earn, how you spend, and what’s left at the end.
On the B2B side, we have Render. Render is our award-winning software-as-a-service platform that allows Abound to make better, less risky lending decisions. And less risky decisions mean we can offer customers better rates than they can usually find elsewhere. We’re taking Render global so that more companies, from high-street banks to other fintechs, can offer affordable credit to their customers.
Why this role matters:
Gerald and Michelle each field thousands of emails, messages, and meeting requests every week. Staying on top of what really moves the needle—business performance, strategic partnerships, fundraising, talent decisions, confidential M&A threads—is now impossible without a dedicated force multiplier. Your mission is to help the Founders manage their time effectively, shield them from noise, surface what matters, and ensure every minute they spend aligns with Abound’s highest‑value goals.
What you'll be doing:
Inbox & Message Triage
Monitor, prioritise, and categorise all email and Teams traffic for both founders.
Draft or send quick‑turn replies on their behalf for routine queries.
Escalate the high‑impact or time‑sensitive items, with concise context and clear next steps.
Calendar Mastery
Own two extremely busy diaries: coordinate business management, investor pitches, board prep, talent interviews, off‑sites, media spots, and personal commitments.
Proactively block “deep‑work” time and defend it from encroachment.
Anticipate clashes and propose smart trade‑offs before they happen.
Priority Gatekeeping
Manage internal demands on the Founder's time, gathering internal questions and prioritise how these should be addressed
Align diary and task lists with the KPIs that drive company value.
Meeting and Presentation Enablement
Prepare briefing packs, pull data from finance/analytics, and draft agendas.
Attend meetings when requested, capture actions, follow up on owners and deadlines.
Research & Preparation
Perform rapid, well‑structured research on partners, markets, or competitors.
Synthesise findings into one‑pager decision memos.
Coordinate preparation for external speaking slots
Culture Ambassadorship
Model Abound’s values in every interaction.
Help founders broadcast recognition, pulse‑check morale, and keep our fun, high‑performance culture alive.
Confidential Administration
Handle sensitive documents (fund‑raise decks, compensation files, M&A transactions) with absolute discretion.
Manage expenses, travel, approvals, and light personal admin seamlessly.
Who you are:
Bring 4 + years as an Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant in a high‑growth start‑up, scale‑up, VC fund, fintech, or similarly demanding environment.
Have great business acumen: You’re highly business-aware and can quickly grasp complex financial, technological, and operational issues.
Think like a chief‑of‑staff in training: strong business acumen, able to grasp commercial, financial, and technical context quickly.
Write like the founders—clear, concise, engaging, occasionally witty—and switch effortlessly between investor formality and Slack‑casual.
Prioritise ruthlessly: you see the difference between “interesting” and “mission‑critical” at a glance.
Protect confidentiality without compromise; you will read every email that lands in the C‑suite.
Juggle chaos with grace: multiple threads, stakeholders, and surprises never knock you off balance.
Sweat the details: from meeting dial‑ins to board‑deck page numbers, nothing slips.
Radiate positivity: you make life easier, lighten the mood, and uphold Abound’s inclusive culture.
