Job description

Company Description

Marie Curie is the UK's leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they're likely to die from.

Job Description

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Executive Assistant to join our CEO Office, providing high-level support to two senior leaders: Chief Marketing Communications Fundraising & Retail Officer and Executive Director of Policy & Research. Working closely with the wider Executive Assistant team, you'll play a key role in ensuring our Executive Leadership Team operates efficiently, helping senior leaders stay focused on their priorities.

This is more than a traditional administrative role. You'll be a trusted partner to senior leaders, anticipating their needs, managing competing priorities and ensuring they have the information and support needed to make effective decisions. You'll bring structure to busy schedules, build strong relationships across the organisation and help ensure the smooth running of important meetings and executive activities. With a proactive mindset, sound judgement and exceptional attention to detail, you'll make a real difference to how our leadership team operates.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level executive and administrative support to two senior leaders, ensuring their day-to-day activities run smoothly.
  • Proactively manage complex diaries, meetings and correspondence, anticipating changing priorities and resolving scheduling challenges.
  • Coordinate leadership and governance meetings, including preparing agendas, managing papers, taking accurate minutes and following up on actions.
  • Act as a trusted first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, handling enquiries professionally and discreetly.
  • Ensure senior leaders are fully briefed and prepared for meetings, with relevant documents and information available in advance.
  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, events and other logistical arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain effective administrative systems, document management processes and accurate records.
  • Prepare, proofread and format correspondence, reports and presentations to a high standard.
  • Support financial administration, including purchase orders and expense processing.
  • Collaborate with the wider Executive Assistant team, providing flexible support across the Executive Leadership Team when required.
Key Criteria:
  • Extensive experience as an Executive Assistant supporting C-suite executives, Executive Directors or Board-level leaders.
  • Proven ability to manage complex diaries, competing priorities and demanding workloads in a fast-paced senior executive environment.
  • Experience coordinating senior leadership or governance meetings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking and action tracking.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence and professionalism to engage with senior leaders and Non-Executive Directors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Sound judgement, diplomacy and discretion when handling sensitive and highly confidential information.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
  • A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach, with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Previous experience within a charity or not-for-profit organisation is desirable.
Application & Interview Process:
  • Close date for applications: 1 Nov 2026. We encourage early applications as we may close the job advert sooner after receiving a sufficient number of applications.

Salary: £28,274-31,415 per annum + £3,500 London Weighting Allowance if applicable

Contract: Permanent, full-time (35h per week)

Based: Hybrid. You will work from home and from our Embassy Gardens office in London (typically 2 days a week, depending on the needs).

Benefits you'll LOVE:
  • Flexible working. We're happy to discuss flexible working at the interview stage.
  • 25 days annual leave (exclusive of Bank Holidays)
  • Marie Curie Group Personal Pension Scheme (we will match your contribution up to 7.5%)
  • Loan schemes for bikes; computers and season tickets
  • Continuous professional development opportunities.
  • Industry-leading training programmes
  • Wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programmes
  • Enhanced bereavement, family friendly and sickness benefits
