Job summary

SP Electricity North West is seeking an Excavation Operator / Cable Layer to carry out excavation and backfill work on LV and HV underground networks across Cumbria, North Lancashire and Settle district. Base location varies with home address.

You will lead a small team, ensure safety and quality, and use handheld IT for job instructions. You will hold NRSWA units, risk assessment experience, a valid UK driving licence (C1+), and relevant operator tickets; a towing licence and MO ticket are

• Experience of pre-siting schemes of work & performing Risk Assessments
• Full UK Driving Licence, C1 as a minimum
• Towing Licence
• Abrasive Wheel
• CSCS Operatives card
• Emergency First Aid
• Machine Operator ticket
• Trench Support (deep excavation) (desirable)
• Moling qualification (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Carry out excavation and backfill work for Domestic Connections and Fault Response on LV/HV underground networks.
• Ensure safety, health and environment standards; conduct risk assessments and maintain safe working practices.
• Operate handheld IT equipment to receive job instructions and record site information; comply with quality standards.
