Job summary

Sale High School is seeking reliable Readers/Scribes to support students with approved examination access arrangements. You will provide 1:1 support during examinations under the guidance of the Examinations Manager, following JCQ and examination board regulations to ensure fair, appropriate support.

The role includes reading papers, scribing answers, and monitoring exam conditions, with mandatory training and safeguarding/prohibition checks where applicable.

Qualifications

• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
• Patience, calm and confident working one-to-one.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Impartial and professional during examinations.
• Awareness of safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Experience with children or young people is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Read examination papers and materials accurately to students.
• Scribe students’ answers clearly and at a reasonable speed.
• Read back questions or recorded answers when requested.
• Support students while maintaining examination conditions.
• Follow JCQ regulations and exam procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding at all times.
• Report any communication difficulties to the invigilator.
• Handle examination materials and paperwork correctly.
• Attend required Reader/Scribe training.
