Job summary

MASS is expanding its Electronic Warfare Operations Support Group in St Neots. You’ll join a hands-on trials team supporting preparation, execution and reporting of laboratory-based test activity, delivering controlled, traceable outcomes.

Working under senior engineers, you’ll configure threat representations, run repeatable trial runs, and document results to enable customer decisions while adhering to safety and governance standards.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ hands-on experience supporting or delivering test, trials, integration, commissioning or verification activity in a lab, workshop, or representative system environment.
  • Able to follow and contribute to clear procedures and checklists, and work methodically with guidance to deliver safe, repeatable outcomes.
  • Practical working knowledge of common test and measurement equipment and bench practices; safe connections, ranges, and result recording.
  • Networking fundamentals to support lab set-ups and basic troubleshooting.
  • RF fundamentals to support RF-adjacent testing and safe RF handling procedures.
  • Strong engineering mindset; hands-on setup, fault-finding, and re-test activities with SMEs when needed.
  • Good organisation and evidence capture; maintain trial notes and evidence packs.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate progress clearly.
  • Safety-conscious approach; follow safe systems of work and escalate hazards.
  • Some EW exposure or ability to learn new mission/threat domains quickly.
  • Experience with planning/documentation tools (Jira/Confluence, Excel trackers).
  • Knowledge of test governance concepts and applying them in practice.
  • Experience writing or improving repeatable procedures and checklists.
  • Experience with configuration/document control and traceable records.
  • Broader networking experience and coordinating with network SMEs.
  • Experience in a delivery environment with changing priorities and multiple stakeholders.
  • EW domain understanding of threat/mission context and EW test/evaluation.
  • Coordination with facilities/security/IT to enable test activity.
  • STEM degree or equivalent with strong practical engineering mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare trials: set up equipment, configure environments, check asset readiness, and ensure safety controls are in place.
  • Execute tests: follow procedures, operate test equipment safely, and record configurations for traceability.
  • Capture results and evidence during trials, raise issues promptly, support fault-finding and re-test activity.
  • Provide timely reporting to enable customer decisions and maintain clear documentation.
  • Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team and accept coaching to broaden experience across projects.
  • Work with MASS teams on-site to deliver high-quality trial execution and evidence.
