As an Events Assistant, you will engage with the public at various events, providing information and performing blood type testing. This role offers flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with full training provided. Come and join our Community Engagement team, who plan and deliver a variety of public events designed to recruit new blood donors. As an Events Assistant, you will be required on an as and when basis working variable hours and days, including weekdays, evenings, weekends and bank holidays with mutual agreement and prior notice.
You don’t need a medical background, we just need you to have experience of working in a customer service environment, which can include in a voluntary capacity. You will set up and run “What’s Your Blood Type?” events where you will perform blood type testing for which training will be provided.
It’s best if you live within 15 miles of central Luton, since things can move quickly, and you might need to travel at short notice. Occasionally, events can take place on weekends but we offer extra pay for weekend shifts and will cover your travel costs based on our policy.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will work with the community engagement team to register and book appointments for new blood donors at a variety of public events, including workplaces, markets and fairs. You will set up and run What’s Your Blood Type events, where you will perform blood type testing. Your duties at the events will include:-
