The role-holder works as part of the team to ensure efficient and effective service, providing hospitality to customers including the public, students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include ordering consumable and non-consumable products for events, contributing to customer service training of temporary staff, and supporting food and beverage service for the University Catering Service's Event Team.
Please note that a Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role (a full EU Driving Licence is acceptable on appointment, but the successful applicant must transfer to a UK Licence prior to start date).
The Catering Service hosts over 1,000 events annually, from small working lunches to large garden parties and ceremonial events. The role involves supporting food service for events up to 200 people, supervising temporary staff, and managing the process from collection to end of service. Typically, 10 to 15 events are held weekly with about 50 attendees and 3 Catering Assistants supervised.
