Job description

Job Description:

Together with our client, we are looking for a Catering Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting in daily kitchen duties such as salad and sandwich preparation, milk delivery to classes, lunch service, cleaning, washing up, stock management, and deliveries.
  2. Supporting the preparation of the salad bar and sandwiches.
  3. Assisting with dietary restricted meals under management guidance.
  4. Delivering the daily milk quota to classrooms.
  5. Ensuring timely delivery of meals without compromising quality.
  6. Contributing ideas to improve kitchen services.
  7. Following daily menus accurately.
  8. Maintaining cleanliness and stock in the staff room.
  9. Participating in kitchen housekeeping duties.
  10. Being available for additional contracted or emergency work.

Candidate Qualifications and Characteristics:

  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • High hygiene standards and understanding of health legislation.
  • Commitment to the school's ethos.
  • Experience in catering is advantageous but not essential.
  • Level 2 food handling qualification or willingness to train.
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake training.
  • Teamwork skills and willingness to assist colleagues.

Working Conditions:

The role involves 37.5 hours per week during 34 weeks of the year (term time), plus 3 days for meetings and training. Additional evening and Saturday work may be required for events.

Salary:

The full-time annual salary ranges from £19,500 to £23,809.50, depending on skills and experience. The pro-rata salary for this role, based on 37.5 hours/week for 34 weeks, is approximately £14,541 to £17,754, including holiday pay.
