Job summary

Lumentum in the UK Caswell site is seeking a junior Process Integration Engineer to join the Chip R&D team, developing and managing wafer fabrication processes for InP-based photonic components. The role involves translating designs into manufacturable processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and supporting transfer to production.

Working hours are 2:00–10:00 pm on weekdays. This is an on-site role offering opportunities to contribute to high-volume manufacturing and to apply Six

Qualifications

• Degree in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science or related field.
• Hands-on experience with semiconductor wafer processing, preferably III‑V.
• Knowledge of epitaxy, lithography, etching, deposition and ion implantation.
• Experience with process integration and development of process flows.

Responsibilities

• Integrate wafer fabrication processes to deliver InP-based photonic components.
• Optimize wafer fab processes to improve yield, cost, and cycle time.
• Develop and maintain process flows and MES documentation.
• Monitor product performance through development and transfer to production.
• Apply Six Sigma methods (FMEA, capability analysis) for improvements.
• Collaborate with design, operations, and manufacturing teams.
