Job summary

King’s Ely seeks a catering assistant to provide quality evening dining service for boarders and staff, and to maintain cleanliness in line with Health & Safety at Work Act. The post holder will support the Evening Dining Hall Supervisor and prepare dining rooms for service.

The role requires a positive can-do attitude, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced catering environment.

Qualifications

• It is essential that the successful candidate has a keen interest in the associated duties of working in a fast-paced catering environment.
• A positive ‘can-do’ attitude to customer service, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and contribute within a team are vital.

Responsibilities

• Provide a quality food service to our boarding school community at evening meal.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness and comply with all aspects of the Health & Safety at Work Act.
• Carry out all aspects of food service and customer liaison as instructed by the Evening Dining Hall Supervisor.
• Prepare the main School dining rooms in readiness for meal service and maintain the cleanliness of the area during meal service.
• Carry out cleaning duties including loading dishwasher, sweeping and mopping floors before and after service in the main dining areas, preparing for the next service.
• Adhere to Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation, reporting incidents to the Catering Manager.
• Adopt a responsible and caring approach to all aspects of the job.
• Maintain departmental standards of tidiness and cleanliness.
• Work within the team to ensure all departmental requirements are met in full.
• Undertake training, attend meetings and maintain professional development as appropriate.
