Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is hiring a Cleaning Operative at Viewforth Early Years Centre. You will join our Facilities Management team to deliver a cleaning service across our estate, ensuring safe and clean spaces for work or learning.

The role offers secure employment with above-market rates and flexible hours to suit family, caring or studying commitments. Typical shifts are Monday–Friday, 18:00–20:00, with opportunities for additional hours and sessional posts during school terms.

Qualifications

• Duties reflect cleaning of surfaces, toilets and general spaces.
• Adhere to cleaning specification and performance standards.
• Comply with PVG checks and safeguarding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Empty litter and recycling bins across assigned buildings.
• Clean all surfaces, glass, floors, furniture and fixtures.
• Sanitary areas, toilets and showers, replenishing washroom consumables.
• Emergency and reactive cleaning as required (graffiti, spillages).
• Care for equipment used and assist with cross-building cleaning tasks.
