Job summary

The Sweyne Park School is seeking a proactive and highly organised Caretaker to maintain the school’s buildings and grounds to a high standard at Rayleigh, Essex. The role is based at the Sweyne Park site with occasional duties across the Trust; a flexible, team-oriented approach is essential to support teaching staff and pupils.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, site security, setting up rooms for activities, and liaison with contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining school premises or facilities preferred.
• Ability to work with contractors and staff.
• Willingness to perform emergencies and alarm responses rota.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Manual handling and working at height awareness.
• Basic IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and report faults.
• Keep site clean and tidy, including litter picking.
• Ensure premises are safe, secure and well maintained.
• Provide site maintenance and security.
• Set up rooms for activities, meetings, events, examinations and lettings.
• Work with contractors and management to ensure smooth operations.
• Cover ad hoc late lettings, annual leave and sickness when required.
• Emergency and alarm response on rota.
