Job summary

Victoria House, Ryde, is seeking an Evening Care Assistant for 16–20 hours per week with four-hour shifts from 5.30pm to 9.30pm. You will assist residents with evening care, bedtime routines, supper and drinks, and responsive call-bell support, ensuring dignity and comfort throughout the night.

You will work closely with day and night teams to maintain continuity of care, document activities, and support residents’ individual routines with empathy and patience.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient and respectful approach to care.
• Ability to work well in a team and communicate clearly with residents and colleagues.
• Dependable and attentive, able to respond calmly to residents’ needs.
• Ability to keep accurate records and follow care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide evening personal care including washing, toileting and changing into nightwear while maintaining dignity.
• Assist with bedtime routines and support residents to settle for the night.
• Offer and assist with supper and drinks following dietary requirements.
• Respond promptly to call bells and support residents with requests.
• Support handover between day and night teams at 7pm and share relevant information.
• Provide companionship and reassurance to residents to help them feel safe and settled.
• Record care accurately and timely in line with home procedures.
• Communicate concerns about wellbeing or care needs to the senior on duty.
