JLR’s Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton invites a Laboratory Technician to support EDU and battery production through metallurgical, chemical and radiographic analysis. You will verify drawings and specifications, perform cleanliness tests, and report results to engineers and customers, fostering high-quality, safe production.

The role integrates with a skilled team and uses advanced test equipment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with materials testing equipment.
• Experience in weld analysis (visual and metallurgical).
• Metallurgical knowledge of steel and aluminium, including heat treatment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of laboratory safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Use metallurgical prep and test equipment to assess components according to standard test processes.
• Carry out routine quality control testing for EDU and battery assembly.
• Perform visual and metallurgical weld analysis.
• Perform radiographic analysis of components.
• Escalate issues and feedback results to customers and colleagues.
