Job summary

Barnsley Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join the Fleet Services team at Smithies Lane Depot. The role focuses on maintaining conventional and electric vehicles, diagnosing faults, and ensuring safety and compliance across our fleet.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, mentor apprentices, and support the transition to low-emission transport while working within a dedicated workshop environment and meeting strict deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience in electric vehicle (EV) maintenance and repair.
• Ability to diagnose and repair faults efficiently.
• Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on a range of conventional and electric vehicles.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle safety and roadworthiness across the fleet.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and trail new maintenance processes.
• Mentor and support colleagues and apprentices, promoting best practices.
