Job summary

Yunex Traffic is seeking an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Engineer to join our field-based team. You will commission, maintain, and support fast, rapid, and ultra-rapid EV chargers across nationwide and local contracts, ensuring safety and high-quality delivery.

You will conduct testing, data analysis, and report on contract performance while working with contractors and customers. A full driving license and proximity to a depot are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with low and medium voltage electrical systems.
  • Proactive problem-solver who works well in a team.
  • Experience working with IT equipment.
  • Safety-conscious, outdoors-friendly and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Service, upgrade, and troubleshoot AC and DC EV chargers.
  • Prioritize safety and report unsafe events or incidents.
  • Conduct electrical testing and periodic inspections of charging equipment.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, to a high standard and on schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors and customers on-site and remotely.
  • Manage vehicle stock levels and report as needed.
  • Analyze data to optimize contract performance.
  • Support out-of-hours standby rota for emergency repairs.
  • Participate in training and accreditation, including travel.
  • Occasionally stay away overnight and assist other engineers with traffic signals.

The Role

As an Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll join our dynamic, field-based team. Your role will focus on the commissioning, maintenance, and support of fast, rapid, and ultra-rapid EV chargers. Location: We’re hiring Engineers to cover Nationwide & Local contracts

Responsibilities:
  • Service, upgrade, and troubleshoot AC and DC EV chargers.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety at all times; this includes reporting of unsafe events, conditions and incidents, and by supporting business & customer led safety initiatives.
  • Conduct electrical testing and periodic inspections of charging equipment and associated supplies.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, to a high standard, and on schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors and customers, both on-site and digitally.
  • Manage and report your own vehicle Stock levels
  • Analyse and process data to optimize contract performance.
  • Handle emergency repairs and support out-of-hours work by being part of a regular standby call out rota.
  • Complete product training and achieve National Highways Sector Scheme accreditation. Customer specific product training. This will include overseas travel.
  • Support and work in other areas when required (this may involve staying away overnight from time to time)
  • Assist from time-to-time engineers working of traffic signals & associated equipment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
  • Experience working with low and medium voltage electrical systems.
  • A proactive problem-solver who is eager to learn and thrives in a team environment.
  • Experience work with IT equipment.
  • Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors.
  • A full driving license and proximity to one of our depots.
Desirable
  • A Level 3 Electrical qualification (e.g., EAL, City & Guilds)
  • ECS Gold Card and City & Guilds 2391- 52 qualifications or equivalent
  • City & Guilds (phone number removed) qualifications or equivalent
  • 18th edition BS7671 qualification
  • Photovoltaic panel systems experience
  • Battery energy storage systems experience
  • Experience is using IT equipment and software
  • HERS registered
