Job description

We are looking for a Raw Material Commodity Buyer to join our European team, based in the UK. In this role, you will operate in a truly international environment and take ownership of developing and executing raw material commodity strategies, processes, and key purchasing decisions.

You will report to one of our European Commodity Managers and work closely with a network of commodity buyers across Europe, as well as local teams at our various production sites. The position offers broad exposure, with direct collaboration across Prysmian’s business units and functional areas including R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, Operations, Finance, Quality, Sustainability, and HSE.

Responsibilities
  • Own the procurement strategy for key raw material commodities, managing a 20 - 30M EUR spend across 6 countries.
  • Lead allocation processes in partnership with Logistics to secure optimal cost advantages.
  • Develop and execute regional commodity strategies aligned with global direction from HQ and the Regional Commodity Manager.
  • Shape and optimize the supplier base to deliver competitive cost, quality, sustainability, and reliability.
  • Drive multi‑country commodity projects informed by plant needs, spend insights, and market analysis.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, tenders, contracts, and long‑term agreements to maximize value creation.
  • Evaluate supplier performance across sustainability, delivery, quality, risk exposure, and overall supply‑base health.
  • Align demand and material priorities with suppliers through accurate forecasting and planning.
  • Maintain high‑quality purchasing master data to ensure system integrity and operational reliability.
  • Oversee pricing management across quotations, contracts, and planning cycles.
  • Oversee contract management to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely renewals.
  • Support internal and external audits across the region.
  • Collaborate with local functions to ensure adherence to Prysmian governance, guidelines, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a procurement or supply chain role, with a strong understanding of procurement processes, category management, and organizational structures.
  • Solid expertise in market intelligence, purchasing strategies, cost‑improvement initiatives, and procurement best practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self‑driven and results‑oriented, demonstrating agility in managing multiple priorities and adapting to evolving business needs.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization is considered an advantage.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including data analysis and data management proficiency.
