Job summary

Ford & Stanley Group in Leeds seeks a Production Manager to lead ETCS installation and maintenance across a fleet of locomotives. You will manage production planning, safety, and performance, working with depot teams and stakeholders to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in rolling stock or large-scale engineering programmes, and a focus on continuous improvement. Site-based, with potential travel to other locations.

Qualifications

• Production planning and installation leadership in a rail engineering environment.
• Strong leadership with safety and accountability focus.
• Experience with rolling stock maintenance or large-scale engineering programmes.
• Stakeholder management and customer liaison capability.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement application.

Responsibilities

• Safety Leadership: uphold safety culture and investigate incidents.
• Programme & Production Planning: manage ETCS installation and maintenance to milestones.
• Performance Management: monitor efficiency and quality, close issues.
• Stakeholder Engagement: liaise with teams and external partners to support delivery.
• Audit & Compliance: support audits and maintain standards.
• Tooling & Equipment Control: manage tooling and calibration for availability.
• Continuous Improvement: drive Lean initiatives to improve performance.
• Operational Problem Solving: remove barriers and ensure reliable delivery.
• Quality Management: ensure work meets specs and customer requirements.
• Team Leadership: coach and manage staff, performance reviews.
• Training & Competency: ensure required qualifications and training.
• Communication & Engagement: toolbox talks and engineering communications.
