Job summary

Estimator / Account Manager - Fabrication & Manufacturing in the Huddersfield area seeks an experienced estimator or account manager to strengthen the commercial team and help convert enquiries into orders.

Estimator / Account Manager - Fabrication & Manufacturing

An established engineering and manufacturing business in the Huddersfield area is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Estimator, Sales Estimator or Account Manager.

This is a particularly flexible opportunity. The business is open to considering a dedicated Estimator, somebody combining estimating and account management, or a more commercially focused individual who can also support new business development.

The Role

Working closely with customers and the manufacturing team, responsibilities could include:

• Reviewing customer enquiries, drawings and specifications
• Producing accurate quotations
• Calculating material, labour and manufacturing costs
• Obtaining supplier and subcontract prices
• Managing enquiries from quotation through to order
• Liaising closely with production
• Building relationships with existing customers
• Following up quotations and identifying further opportunities
• Supporting account development and new business where appropriate

For someone interested in the broader commercial position, the majority of the role would still focus on existing customers, enquiries and estimating, rather than being a heavily cold-call-driven sales position.

What We’re Looking For

We're particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within sheet metal fabrication, subcontract manufacturing, precision engineering or a similar manufacturing environment.

You could currently be working as a:

Estimator | Fabrication Estimator | Sales Estimator | Technical Estimator | Account Manager | Technical Sales Engineer Proposals Engineer

A good understanding of engineering drawings, costing and manufacturing processes would be highly beneficial.

The company is flexible on background and is more interested in finding someone with the right industry knowledge and commercial/technical understanding than somebody matching an exact job title.
