Clark Contracts Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator for our Refurbishment and Fit Out divisions, based in Paisley. You will work in pre-construction, develop detailed cost estimates, and lead tender preparation across multiple projects.

You will collaborate with the Bid team, review drawings and specifications, and manage subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive bids while maintaining quality and risk controls. This role requires proactive problem-solving and strong numerical skills.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in estimating role within contracting
• Experience estimating construction projects with understanding of building methods and UK standards
• Independent and proactive problem-solving mindset
• Experience using estimation software such as Conquest or Causeway
• Familiarity with SBCC, NEC3/3, JCT contracts and related forms
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail

Responsabilités

Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts Ltd is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions; Construction, Fit Out, Refurbishment, Housing and Maintenance.We employ over 290 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland.

We are seeking experienced Estimator to join our Refurbishment and Fit Out Divisions. This role will play a pivotal part in our pre-construction phase, ensuring that all bids are competitive and financially sound.

What You’ll Do:

As Estimator, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with an experienced team, reporting directly to the Estimating Manager. You will:

• Collaborate with the Bid team including procurement, design, and project management, to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
• Interpret and review complex architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents to accurately estimate the scope of works.
• Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for Refurbishment and Fit Out projects.
• Identify and analyse potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates and ensure these are adequately addressed in the proposal.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, ensuring all costs are validated.
• Assist in post-tender negotiations to ensure projects are commercially viable and in line with the company’s objectives.
• Identify compliant Value Engineering opportunities that provide our Client with Value for Money whilst maintaining quality aspirations for their project.
• Take an active role in our Supply Chain Management Initiative, building strong relationships with subcontractors to drive winning partnerships.
• Be a key player in submitting winning tenders on time while ensuring cost-effective solutions.
• Embrace our customers 1st campaign, continuously improving the way we engage with clients and ensuring we exceed expectations.

What We’re Looking For:

• A proven track record in a similar estimating role within the contracting world, with a focus on winning tenders that align with the companies commercial needs and risk profile.
• Proven experience in estimating construction projects, with a solid understanding of building methods, materials, and UK construction standards.
• A proactive, solutions-driven mindset, thriving when working independently and using your initiative to solve problems.
• Strong knowledge of estimation software (e.g., Conquest, Causeway, or equivalent).
• Experience working with SBCC, NEC3/3, JCT contracts, or other relevant forms of contract.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail.
• A passion for performance, excelling in fast-paced environments and continuously seeking ways to improve.
