Role Description

The Estimator / Quantity Surveyor (QS) is a full-time, on-site role based in Huddersfield. The role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for landscaping projects, including materials, labor, subcontractor quotations, and equipment requirements. The Estimator / QS will review drawings, specifications, and tender documents, carry out site visits, and gather pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors. Day-to-day tasks include preparing tender submissions, tracking project costs, supporting contract negotiation, and updating budgets and forecasts as projects progress. The role also includes liaising with project managers, designers, and clients, maintaining cost records, and contributing to value engineering and project reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Strong estimating and quantity surveying skills, including cost planning, budgeting, and tender preparation for landscaping or construction projects.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contracts, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to use spreadsheets and estimating software for measurement, cost analysis, and reporting; strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
• Knowledge of landscaping, grounds maintenance, or construction processes and materials; previous sector experience is highly beneficial.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to carry out site visits as required.
