Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd in Oxfordshire is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing engineering and manufacturing group. You will review customer enquiries, examine engineering drawings, calculate costs, and produce accurate quotations for both high-volume production and bespoke projects.

The role offers Monday to Friday hours, travel between Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire, and a clear path for progression within the wider group.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing or machining environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of CNC machining, milling, turning, fabrication or metalworking processes.
• Estimating experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review customer enquiries, drawings, CAD files, and specifications.
• Prepare accurate quotations for machined and fabricated components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and understand manufacturing requirements.
• Calculate material, labour, machining, and subcontract costs.
• Utilise ERP/MRP systems to obtain pricing and cost information.
• Liaise with customers regarding technical and commercial queries.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure quotation accuracy.
• Manage a mix of repeat production quotations and bespoke project estimates.
• Support estimation activities across the wider group of businesses.
• Maintain quotation records and follow up on opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
