Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd in Oxfordshire is seeking an Estimator to join our growing engineering and manufacturing group. You will review drawings, calculate costs and produce accurate quotations for high-volume and bespoke projects, liaising with customers and internal teams.

The role involves using ERP/MRP systems, understanding CNC machining processes, and supporting estimation across multiple sites with occasional travel between Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Qualifications

• Experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or machining environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of CNC machining, milling, turning, fabrication, or metalworking processes.
• Estimating experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer enquiries, technical drawings, CAD files, and specifications.
• Prepare accurate quotations for machined and fabricated components.
• Interpret engineering drawings and understand manufacturing requirements.
• Calculate material, labour, machining, and subcontract costs.
• Utilise MRP/ERP systems to obtain pricing and cost information.
• Liaise with customers regarding technical and commercial queries.
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure quotation accuracy.
• Manage a mixture of repeat production quotations and bespoke project estimates.
• Support estimation activities across the wider group of businesses.
• Maintain quotation records and follow up on outstanding opportunities.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
