Job summary

Construction Recruitment Services Ltd is working with an established specialist contractor delivering carpentry and joinery packages on high-quality projects in London and surrounding areas. We are seeking an experienced Estimator to price and tender new projects, prepare accurate estimates and support the wider commercial function.

The role involves reviewing drawings, preparing take-offs, producing quotations, pricing labour and materials, and obtaining supplier quotations.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating carpentry, joinery, fit-out or related subcontracting work.
• Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Experience with take-offs, pricing and tendering.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Capable of working independently and managing multiple tenders.
• Interest in developing within the commercial side of construction.

We are working with an established and growing specialist contractor who delivers carpentry and joinery packages across a range of high-quality construction projects throughout London and surrounding areas.

The business works across large residential developments, premium projects and selected commercial and specialist schemes, delivering everything from structural and first-fix carpentry through to second-fix works and bespoke joinery.

We are looking for an experienced Estimator with a background in carpentry, joinery, fit-out or a related subcontracting environment.

The Role

Working as part of the commercial team, you will be involved in pricing and tendering new projects, preparing accurate estimates and supporting the wider commercial function.

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender information
• Preparing accurate take-offs and measurements
• Producing estimates and detailed quotations
• Pricing labour, materials, preliminaries and subcontract packages
• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations

About You

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous estimating experience within carpentry, joinery, fit-out or construction
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
• Experience with take-offs, pricing and tendering
• Good numerical and analytical skills
• Commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders
• A genuine interest in developing within the commercial side of construction

Candidates with a Quantity Surveying background within a carpentry/joinery subcontractor will also be considered.
