Job summary

Had-Fab, a leading UK steel structures specialist, is seeking an detail-oriented Estimator to convert customer requirements into winning proposals. You will join a close-knit team led by the Commercial Manager, preparing competitive quotes and ensuring tenders are accurate and timely.

The role involves liaising with customers and suppliers, pricing using drawings and client data, and collaborating with Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Production to deliver value-driven bids.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to quote accurately from drawings, specs and client data.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes.
• Experience in cost-modelling and tender preparation.
• Proficient in Excel and Word; ERP experience preferred.
• Ability to liaise with suppliers and customers.

• Prepare and submit tender bids using drawings, specs, and client data.
• Liaise with customers to understand needs and provide value-added solutions.
• Source pricing from suppliers and contractors for competitive proposals.
• Coordinate and maintain bid documentation.
• Maximise value while controlling costs and delivery timelines.
• Prepare quotation letters and clarifications as needed.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams including Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Production.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function.

About the Role

As an Estimator at Had-Fab, you’ll play a key role in converting customer enquiries into successful business proposals. Working as part of a close-knit team led by the Commercial Manager, you’ll prepare competitive quotes, liaise with suppliers and customers, and ensure all tenders are accurate, timely, and commercially sound.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tender bids using drawings, specifications, and client data.
• Liaise with customers to understand their needs and provide value-added solutions.
• Source pricing from suppliers and contractors to ensure competitive, high-quality proposals.
• Coordinate and maintain all documentation throughout the bid process.
• Maximise value while controlling costs and delivery timelines.
• Prepare quotation letters and clarifications where required.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams including Engineering, Procurement, Planning, and Production.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong technical understanding of fabrication processes and customer specifications.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and ideally ERP systems.
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost-modelling skills.
• Confident communicator with a collaborative mindset and a drive to deliver results.
• Previous experience in a steel fabrication, engineering, or construction environment preferred.
