Job summary

Reed is seeking an Estimator for its Salford Quays team to prepare competitive tenders for commercial office fit-out and refurbishment projects. The role involves take-offs, cost estimation, and analysing subcontractor quotations to ensure winning bids.

With roughly 4–5 years in estimating, you will interpret drawings and specifications, while collaborating with commercial and operations teams to deliver strong tender results.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate and competitive tenders for office fit-out and refurbishment projects.
• Take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates.
• Review subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify risks and value engineering opportunities in tender submissions.
• Attend site visits and raise technical queries as required.
• Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to develop tender returns.
• Support tender negotiations and assist with handover to delivery teams.

Location: Salford Quays

Salary: Circa £55,000 per annum + benefits

An established and successful commercial office fit-out and refurbishment contractor is looking to recruit an Estimator to join its growing team in Salford Quays.

With over 35 years of industry experience, the business delivers high-quality office fit-out and refurbishment projects across the UK, with the majority of work located throughout Greater Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator with around 4-5 years' experience to play a key role within a close-knit team and develop their career as the company continues to grow.

The Role

As Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders for commercial office fit-out and refurbishment projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications to fully understand project requirements.
• Carrying out take-offs and preparing detailed cost estimates.
• Obtaining, reviewing and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identifying any gaps, risks or value engineering opportunities within tender submissions.
• Attending site visits and raising technical queries where required.
• Working closely with commercial and operational teams to develop competitive tender returns.
• Supporting tender negotiations and assisting with the successful handover of secured projects to delivery teams.

Requirements

• Approximately 4-5 years' estimating experience within commercial office fit-out and refurbishment.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials and pricing.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commercially aware with strong attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
