Job summary

HR Employment Ltd in Gloucester is seeking an experienced Internal Sales Estimator to join a busy Tendering Team. You will interpret technical drawings, specifications and documents to prepare accurate commercial quotations and manage enquiries.

The role blends technical and commercial focus in a high-volume environment. The ideal candidate has estimating experience, strong numeracy, and excellent communication skills, with proven ability to work collaboratively within a Sales team and CRM

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating from customer requirements, drawings, specifications or technical documentation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with extracting information to prepare quotations.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics or related information is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming quotation and estimating enquiries from customers and the Sales Team.

Internal Sales Estimator

Salary: £33,000 per annum

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Working pattern: Monday to Friday, on-site with 1 day working from home available following successful completion of probation

Flexible start/finish: 7:00am-4:30pm or 8:00am-5:30pm

We are recruiting for an experienced Internal Sales Estimator to join a busy and established Tendering Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous estimating experience who is confident interpreting technical drawings, schematics and specification documents and using this information to prepare accurate commercial quotations.

Working as part of an experienced team, you will manage incoming enquiries, review customer and sales documentation, establish project requirements and produce accurate quotations for the Sales Team to present to customers.

The department operates in a high-volume environment, with individual quotations typically ranging between £10,000 and £20,000.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage incoming quotation and estimating enquiries from customers and the Sales Team.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specification documents.
• Identify project requirements from drawings and supporting documentation, including calculating the number of outlets and determining the appropriate requirements for each quotation.
• Prepare accurate, commercially competitive quotations based on the information provided.
• Ensure all relevant technical and commercial information is captured before completing quotations.
• Liaise with the Sales Team, customers, suppliers and internal departments to clarify requirements and resolve queries.
• Manage multiple quotations and enquiries simultaneously within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Maintain accurate records of enquiries, quotations and customer communications using the CRM system.
• Provide supporting quotation documentation and order acknowledgements where required.
• Ensure quotations are completed accurately and within required timescales.
• Identify opportunities to provide additional products or solutions where appropriate.
• Support the wider Tendering and Sales Teams in progressing customer opportunities.

About You

We are looking for someone who combines estimating experience with strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience within an Estimator, Sales Estimator, Technical Estimator, Quotations or similar role.
• Experience preparing quotations from customer requirements, drawings, specifications or technical documentation.
• Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience working with specification documents and extracting the information required to prepare quotations.
• Some understanding of electrical schematics or electrically related technical information would be advantageous.
• Strong numerical skills and a high level of accuracy.
• Good commercial awareness and confidence working with quotations of significant value.
• Experience working within a busy, high-volume sales, estimating or tendering environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers, salespeople and other internal departments.
• Good IT skills and experience using CRM or business management systems.
• Experience with Salesforce would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload and manage multiple enquiries simultaneously.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
