Job summary

Streamline Search Limited in Derby is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our growing team. You will interpret drawings, specifications and client requirements to produce accurate, competitive quotations.

You will work with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to prepare estimates from enquiry through submission, ensuring costs are viable and deadlines are met. The role is permanent with opportunities to grow within the estimating function and broader commercial team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience estimating in construction, engineering, or related field.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience producing detailed estimates and quotations.
• Strong understanding of materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
• Good IT skills, particularly Excel and estimating software.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Estimator to join an established and growing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong estimating background who is confident interpreting drawings, specifications and client requirements and producing accurate, competitive quotations.

Working closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams, you will be responsible for preparing estimates and tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, ensuring costs are accurate and projects are commercially viable.

Work Hours- 9am- 5pm Monday- Friday

Location- Derby

Key Responsibilities

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as an Estimator within construction, engineering, manufacturing or a related environment.
• Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Experience producing detailed estimates and quotations.
• Good understanding of materials, labour and subcontractor costs.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple enquiries and meet deadlines.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team.
