Job summary

Edge Careers is looking for an Assistant Estimator to join our growing construction team in Aylesford. You will support the Pre-Construction Director and estimating team from initial enquiry through to tender submission and handover.

You will assist with tenders, take-offs, subcontractor enquiries and cost analysis, building experience toward future project leadership as the business expands.

Qualifications

• Experience in estimating, pre-construction or similar construction commercial role is desirable.
• Keen to develop estimating career with progression.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tender preparation, budgets and cost plans.
• Review tender documents, drawings and project requirements.
• Carrying out manual and digital take-offs.
• Preparing Bills of Quantities.
• Preparing and issuing subcontractor enquiries.
• Obtaining, reviewing and comparing subcontractor quotations.
• Inputting and analysing project costs.
• Supporting the preparation of tender submissions.
• Assisting with the handover of successful tenders to the project team.
• Maintaining the subcontractor database.
• Attending site visits where required.
• Supporting general pre-construction administration and document control.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Estimator to join a growing and ambitious construction business based from their head office in Aylesford.

The Role

Working closely with the Pre-Construction Director and wider estimating team, you will support the preparation and delivery of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of tenders, budgets and cost plans
• Reviewing tender documents, drawings and project requirements
• Carrying out manual and digital take-offs

About You

The ideal candidate will have some previous experience within estimating, quantity surveying, pre‑construction or a construction related commercial environment and be keen to develop their career further.

You’ll need:

• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• The ability to read and understand drawings and written information
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to work to deadlines and manage your workload effectively
• A proactive, enthusiastic and self‑motivated approach
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• A full UK driving licence
