Job summary

RTL Group Ltd is seeking an experienced Estimator to price civil, groundworks and RC frame packages in Cheadle Hulme on a temp-to-perm basis. You will build estimates from drawings and tender docs, take off quantities, source quotes and manage risk with value engineering.

Ideal candidates will have grounding in groundworks, civils or RC frames, plus proficiency with Valesco or similar estimating software and Excel, and a degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or QS-related fields.

Qualifications

• Experience in groundworks, civil engineering or RC frame with groundworks as core strength.
• Sound knowledge of drainage, foundations, earthworks, highways and utilities.
• Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and contracts.
• HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying; RICS or CIOB membership is an advantage.
• Organised enough to run several tenders at once against tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Build accurate estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documents.

• Break down costs, overheads and risk, and propose value engineering or alternatives where beneficial.
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings and handle clarifications.
• Coordinate with procurement, project managers and site teams so pricing matches delivery.
• Prepare full handover packs when a tender is won, highlighting risks and exclusions.
• Keep market rates current and maintain a strong network of suppliers and subcontractors.

A well-established, self-delivering groundworks and civil engineering contractor is looking to add an experienced Estimator to its team in Cheadle Hulme on a temp to perm basis.

The Estimator will price civil engineering, groundworks and reinforced concrete frame packages, producing competitive tenders that win the right work at the right margin.

The Estimator Role

• Build accurate estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Take off quantities for labour, plant and materials across groundworks and civils schemes
• Source competitive quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors
• Break down costs, overheads and risk, and put forward value engineering or alternative methods where they add value
• Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings and handle clarifications
• Work closely with procurement, project managers and site teams so what is priced matches what is delivered
• Prepare full handover packs when a tender is won, highlighting risks, assumptions and exclusions
• Keep market rates current and maintain a strong network of suppliers and subcontractors

About You

The successful Estimator will have a proven track record in groundworks, civil engineering or RC frame, with groundworks as your core strength.
