Job summary

Aligned Talent Group is seeking an experienced Estimator for a Medway-based role in retail fit-out and shopfitting. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, interpret drawings, and price multi-trade packages to support tender submissions and commercial decisions.

The role requires strong Excel skills, practical estimating experience in retail environments, and the ability to liaise with suppliers and clients to secure competitive pricing and repeat business.

Qualifications

• Retail fit-out or shopfitting estimating experience is required.
• Ability to price bespoke items and high-volume repeat projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of packaging and costs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for retail fit-out, display systems, fabrication and installation.
• Interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Price works across joinery, metalwork, plastics, M&E, and multi-trade packages.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive pricing.
• Produce tender submissions, cost breakdowns and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers, design teams and manufacturing departments.
• Support commercial decisions on variations, VE, and cost control.
• Build relationships with clients to support repeat business.

Overview

A leading retail installation and fit-out contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team. The business delivers nationwide retail projects including checkout installations, display systems, bespoke fabrication, refrigeration, and full turnkey shopfitting solutions. This role is ideal for an estimator with strong technical knowledge across joinery, metalwork, interiors, or retail environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for retail fit-out, display systems, fabrication, and installation projects
• Interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Price works from first principles across joinery, sheet metal, plastics, M&E, and multi-trade packages
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
• Produce tender submissions, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation
• Work closely with project managers, design teams, and manufacturing departments
• Support commercial decisions on variations, value engineering, and project cost control
• Build strong relationships with clients to support repeat business

Experience & Skills Required

• Strong estimating background within retail fit-out, shopfitting, joinery, fabrication, or specialist manufacturing
• Ability to price bespoke items and high-volume repeat projects
• Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of supply & fix / fix-only packages
• Confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general estimating workflows
• Strong communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills

Ideal Candidate Profile

You will be detail-focused, commercially sharp, and comfortable managing multiple tenders. Experience in retail environments - such as supermarkets, discounters, or branded store rollouts - is highly advantageous. A background in joinery, metalwork, or display system manufacturing is also beneficial
