Job summary

Estimator - Surfacing / Highways is required for flexible location in Kent / South East projects. Salary £50,000 - £70,000 + package depending on experience.

You’ll be taking ownership of tenders from enquiry through to submission and working closely with senior leadership on a range of surfacing and highways projects.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating within surfacing, highways or civil engineering.
• Or strong Quantity Surveyor with pricing/tendering exposure.
• Good understanding of asphalt/road construction projects.
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation.
• Commercial awareness and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for surfacing and highways projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Price works across asphalt, civils and associated packages.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations.
• Support bid submissions and commercial strategy.
• Work with operations to ensure realistic and deliverable pricing.

Estimator - Surfacing / Highways

Location: Flexible (Kent / South East projects)

The Opportunity

This isn't a box-ticking Estimator role.

This is for someone who understands how surfacing work is won, priced, and delivered - and wants to be part of a business where their input actually matters.

You'll be working closely with senior leadership on a range of surfacing and highways projects, taking ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.

If you're currently pricing work but feel stuck, under pressure, or lacking progression - this is worth a conversation.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing accurate cost estimates for surfacing and highways projects
• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Pricing works across asphalt, civils, and associated packages
• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors for quotations
• Supporting bid submissions and commercial strategy
• Working alongside operations to ensure realistic and deliverable pricing

What They're Looking For

• Experience in estimating within surfacing, highways, or civil engineering
• OR a strong Quantity Surveyor with pricing/tendering exposure
• Good understanding of asphalt / road construction projects
