Estimating & Production Engineer – Staff Position

The Estimating & Production Engineer will be part of the Estimating department, focusing on bidding for fabrication projects, including pipework and pressure vessels, mainly for the Oil & Gas Industry.

This role involves a variety of fabrication work, such as offshore platforms, FPSOs, drilling rigs, subsea tooling, and onshore projects.

Job Location:

Mainly based at the Company’s office in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Pricing and costing jobs based on labour, materials, and time.
2. Communicating with clients.
3. Following the Company QA System.
4. Preparing estimates and quotations according to customer needs.
5. sourcing material and equipment costs.
6. Managing jobs through the production process to delivery, maintaining client relationships.
7. Attending weekly production meetings and coordinating with departments.
8. Pricing and costing project works.
9. Ensuring safety and environmental standards are met.
10. Meeting client requirements effectively.

Organizational Placement:

Within the Estimating team, adhering to established procedures and processes.

Line Manager:

Fabrication Shop Operations Manager

Interactions:

• Reporting to the Line Manager.
• Collaborating with managers and staff across workshop and office departments.

Essential Qualifications:

• Experience in estimating within a busy environment.
• Knowledge of the steel trade is a plus.

Skills:

• Understanding of weld procedures and specifications.
• Ability to build and maintain good relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Familiarity with ISO standards.
• Attention to detail and meticulous engineering approach.
• Strong numeracy and computer skills.
