Daniel Owen Ltd in Normanton, Wakefield is seeking a Mechanical Estimator/Estimating Assistant to support our busy estimating team. The role focuses on cost estimation for gas, plumbing and heating works and requires strong mechanical knowledge.

You will price installation, repair and maintenance works, review subcontractor quotations, work with in-house engineers, and prepare accurate quotations using Excel and internal systems. This is a temporary ongoing contract with no fixed end date.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical background with plumbing/heating knowledge.
• Experience in estimating gas, plumbing and heating works.
• Good Excel skills and ability to price various works.
• Site-based project awareness and subcontractor liaison.

Mechanical Estimator/Estimating Assistant

Normanton, Wakefield
£200-£220 per day
Temporary, ongoing contract

We are currently looking for someone with a strong mechanical background to support the estimating function of a busy contractor based in Normanton.

Previous experience as a time-served Estimator is not essential. This could be an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor, Scheduler or experienced plumbing and heating professional who understands site-based works and is looking to move into an estimating role.

The role will involve:

• Producing cost estimates for gas, plumbing and heating works
• Pricing installation, repair and maintenance remedial works
• Obtaining and reviewing quotations from subcontractors
• Working closely with subcontractors and in-house engineers
• Producing estimates for other minor works when required
• Using Excel and internal systems to prepare accurate quotations
• Supporting works across the Wakefield district

We are looking for someone with:

• A mechanical background, ideally within plumbing, heating or gas works
• Good knowledge of mechanical installation and repair works
• Relevant site, supervisory, scheduling or estimating experience
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Confidence using IT systems
• A dynamic, driven and adaptable approach
• The ability to price a variety of works as required

This is a temporary, ongoing position with no confirmed end date. There is potential for the contract to continue for up to 12 months, depending on workload and contract requirements.
