VANRATH is recruiting an Estates Officer - Mechanical (Public Sector) for a Belfast-based public sector organisation on a 6-month contract with a likelihood of permanence. The role focuses on managing estates maintenance contracts, compliance with H&S and environmental legislation, and delivering maintenance programmes.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Energy and Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5 years' relevant management experience in facilities/estates management within construction.
• Experience delivering solutions for estates: Building/Surveying/Maintenance, Mechanical or Electrical engineering services.

Responsibilities

• Support Head of Estates in managing estates maintenance contracts and contractors to provide a safe, fit-for-purpose service.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation in estates management.
• Assist delivery of major/minor works, reactive and planned maintenance programmes in a cost-effective, timely manner.
• Ensure governance in estates budget and procurement rules; manage contractors.
• Help deliver statutory/regulatory requirements and planned/reactive maintenance; address estate issues.
• Support energy efficiency and utilities conservation for future savings.
• Ensure consistent facilities management aligned with operational needs.

Estates Officer - Mechanical (Public Sector)

VANRATH are searching for an experienced Estates Officer - Mechanical for their client, a large Public Sector organisation based in Belfast on a 6 month contract with the likelihood of it leading to a permanent position.

Responsibilities

• To support the Head of Estates in the management of Estates Maintenance Contracts / Contractors to provide an effective Estates / Facilities Management Service that will deliver an estate that is safe, and 'fit for purpose', in line with operational needs.
• To work with managers and contractors to ensure compliance with the relevant statutory obligations including health and safety and environmental legislation, in the delivery of an effective estates management service.
• To proactively assist in the delivery of major and minor works projects, reactive, remedial and planned maintenance programmes in a cost effective, structured and timely fashion.
• To ensure compliance with financial and procurement rules and ensure good governance in the estates budget and management of contractors.
• To enable Client to deliver its statutory and regulatory requirements including the delivery of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance programmes to address the issues in the estate.
• To ensure utilities conservation and maximise energy efficiency for the future.
• To ensure facilities are being managed in a consistent manner, meeting the Operational needs

The Ideal Person

Esstenial

• Possess a relevant degree or HND, or equivalent, qualification in a relevant subject e.g. Energy and Building Services Engineering; Facilities Management; Electrical Engineering, Surveying, Construction in the Built Environment etc

OR

• Have at least 5 years' relevant management experience within the construction industry, in a Facilities/Estates management role

AND

• Demonstrable experience of managing and delivering effective solutions for a facilities/estates function in 2 of the following 3 areas:
  • Building, Surveying and Maintenance
  • Mechanical Engineering Services
  • Electrical Engineering Services

• Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.

Desirable Criteria

• Possess a qualification in Health and Safety such as the NEBOSH Certificate.
• Have experience of working within the Health Sector, local government or wider public sector.
• Demonstrable experience in the use of CAD architectural drawing software
• Demonstrable experience in the use of CAFM software e.g. Micad, 3i etc

Remuneration

c£38,682 per annum + benefits.
