Job summary

VanRath Search & Selection is seeking an experienced Estates Officer - Mechanical for a large Public Sector client in Belfast. This six‑month contract offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of estates management activities.

You will support the Head of Estates in managing maintenance contracts, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, energy efficiency and value-for-money delivery across the estate. Driving licence required; NEBOSH or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Energy and Building Services Engineering; Facilities Management; Electrical Engineering, Surveying, Construction in the Built Environment.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant management experience within construction facilities/estates.
• Experience in Building, Surveying and Maintenance; Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services.
• Full UK driving licence with access to a car.
• NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.
• Experience in Health Sector/public sector and CAD software.
• Experience with CAFM software such as Micad or 3i.

Responsibilities

• To support the Head of Estates in the management of Estates Maintenance Contracts / Contractors to provide an effective Estates / Facilities Management Service that will deliver an estate that is safe, and ‘fit for purpose’, in line with operational needs.
• To work with managers and contractors to ensure compliance with the relevant statutory obligations including health and safety and environmental legislation, in the delivery of an effective estates management service.
• To proactively assist in the delivery of major and minor works projects, reactive, remedial and planned maintenance programmes in a cost effective, structured and timely fashion.
• To ensure compliance with financial and procurement rules and ensure good governance in the estates budget and management of contractors.
• To enableClient to deliver its statutory and regulatory requirements including the delivery of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance programmes to address the issues in the estate.
• To ensure utilities conservation and maximise energy efficiency for the future.
• To ensure facilities are being managed in a consistent manner, meeting the Operational needs

VANRATH are searching for an experienced Estates Officer - Mechanical for their client, a large Public Sector organisation based in Belfast on a 6 month contract with the likelihood of it leading to a permanent position.

The Ideal Person

Esstenial

Possess a relevant degree or HND, or equivalent, qualification in a relevant subject e.g. Energy and Building Services Engineering; Facilities Management; Electrical Engineering, Surveying, Construction in the Built Environment etc

OR

Have at least 5 years’ relevant management experience within the construction industry, in a Facilities/Estates management role

AND

Demonstrable experience of managing and delivering effective solutions for a facilities/estates function in 2 of the following 3 areas:

Building, Surveying and Maintenance

Mechanical Engineering Services

Electrical Engineering Services

• Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.

Possess a qualification in Health and Safety such as the NEBOSH Certificate.

• Have experience of working within the Health Sector, local government or wider public sector.
• Demonstrable experience in the use of CAD architectural drawing software
• Demonstrable experience in the use of CAFM software e.g. Micad, 3i etc

Remuneration

c£38,682 per annum + benefits.
