About Somerset House

Reimagining an historic building for the future, Somerset House combines inspirational architecture with a contemporary arts destination. Located between the Strand and the River Thames in central London, it is a grand neoclassical 6.5-acre complex, once the site of a Tudor palace owned by the Duke of Somerset.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Estates & IT Director will oversee the conservation and animation of Somerset House, aligning with our charitable mission. You will develop and implement a comprehensive estates and IT strategy to evolve the site’s physical and digital infrastructure, leading its delivery. The role requires a collaborative leader who can unite teams and contribute significantly to the Trust’s success.

Candidate Profile

• Proven leadership in estates management within a diverse, high-footfall estate portfolio
• Experience managing building upgrade projects
• Understanding of in-house estates and facilities management alongside outsourced services
• Strategic and operational expertise with the ability to challenge conventional thinking
• Strong communication skills and a track record of delivering results in a dynamic organization
